We Need Your Support

May 19th, 2014

Recently, we hosted a luncheon for community business leaders to share with them ways to support Renaissance Academy. Community and business involvement is a key component of any New Tech school. We’re looking for businesses and organizations to sponsor projects, donate technology and provide financial support.

We also have opportunities for you to get involved as an individual.  You can serve as a mentor, be a guest speaker in one of our classes, serve on an advisory board and more. New Tech schools provide students with unique opportunities to be involved in their communities and in ways that deliver real world application into learning.

Watch this video from students at DaVinci Academy, a New Tech school in California and you will see exactly what I mean.

If you are interested in becoming involved with Renaissance Academy, please call us at 812.258.9040.

Support from community partners is critical to fueling the success of Renaissance Academy and an important element in this new educational model that will prepare our students for the 21st century.

What’s in a chair?

Imagine if you moved across the country and started fresh. All new furniture, the works, in your home.  Overwhelmed? Excited?

That’s what it feels like to build a high school from scratch. We’re picking colors, finishes, furnishings – with the help of some talented designers, of course – and there are a lot of decisions to be made.

Once the walls are up and construction is complete, the crowning jewels of the Renaissance Academy building will be the furnishings.  We wanted the decor to reflect the 21st century vibe of our learning style and not look like your average high school (since we’re turning that model upside down).

Here are a couple cool pieces I thought I would share as a sneak peak:

The Cyber Café will be a multi purpose area where students can work in groups and where they will eat lunch each day. There will be booth spaces, much like what you see in the average restaurant.  There will also be seating at tables with chairs like these:

The Cyber Café will be the hub of much activity in the building.  Another highly-utilized area will be the breakout areas throughout the building that students will use to work in groups on their projects or independently.  Here’s an example of a sofa that will be in one of these areas:

Intrigued? We can’t wait to show you more of what Renaissance Academy has in store for our inaugural class this fall.
